FRIDAY, JULY 3rd

10.00 – 13.00 Circolo dei Lettori

International conference: Post Post Human –The sense of the body and contemporary art. Relationships and comparisons upon body and non-body, Internet and post-Internet, curated by Guido Curto

The Post Human exhibition curated by Jeffrey Deitch, which took place in 1992 in various locations including the Castello di Rivoli, marked a significant turning point in the history of contemporary art for everything concerning the iconography of the body. Artists such as Paul McCarthy, Jeff Koons, Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Matthew Barney began to reflect on the profound change of self-perception in contemporary society after the introduction of new generalized practices such as genetic manipulations, surgery and the increasing development of information networks. The advent of the Internet also changed the modern world of relationships and the nature of the body and the images that they reproduce, thus introducing a new reflection on reality. Placing that historical exhibition as a border, the provocative title of Post Post Human is intended to identify everything that was produced anew about the human body in the schools of art during the last years.
